Our Mission
Picnics With A Pup is a nonprofit organization, located in Woodbury, Minnesota. PWAP has a mission to provide hope and healing to children battling illness. We believe in the power of healing that comes from a visit from a therapy dog and the power of hope from a basket full of fun surprises. We serve Saint Paul/Minneapolis and surrounding areas.
Our History
Kara Salzmann, Minnesota native, mother of two children and one Goldendoodle pup, founded Picnics With A Pup in 2018 with the hope of spreading the same amount of gratitude she feels every single day as she reflects on the many blessings in her life! A magical thing happens when gratitude meets the calling for service and thus, Picnics With A Pup is born!
What we do
Picnics With A Pup is a non profit organization that partners with hospitals and other non profit groups that support the mission of providing hope and healing to children battling illness. Children are visited by a licensed therapy dog that delivers picnic baskets filled with fun and inspirational surprises Picnic basket items include books, toys, puzzles, movies, a stuffed puppy, and blanket. Each visit includes interactions with a therapy pup and includes a picnic experience, whether that is a pup performing tricks or spreading out a blanket and reading to a pup.
Help Our Cause
Your contribution supports a community with interests in children battling illness. $10 provides a book of encouragement to a child that has lost hope. $25 provides a game or toy that provides distraction to difficult daily struggles. $100 provides a picnic basket full of surprises.
